Diagnostic Services
X-Ray X-rays are one of the most common diagnostic techniques used in a chiropractic office. Using x-rays, chiropractors can see the amount of misalignment in the spine as well as determine the level of degeneration in the spine. We perform x-rays in our office for your convenience, rather than having to go to a separate radiology center. Myovision Myovision uses a technology called paraspinal thermography to detect nerve interference in the spine. The equipment uses 2 extremely sensitive probes to measure the difference in the skin temperature along the spine. The test takes only 15 seconds and is a great way to assess the spine when x-rays aren't clinically necessary. Associate Platinum The Associate Platinum scanner is a test that looks at the foot to see if there is a need for orthotics. The foot is an important part of the skeletal system because the effects of a foot problem can lead to ankle, knee, hip, and low back problems as well. If your scan determines a need for orthotics, we can order custom made orthotics from Foot Levelers for less than the cost of a pair of non-custom orthotics from companies such as Good Feet or Foot Solutions. Therapeutic ServicesAdjustment The adjustment is the most common therapeutic procedure performed by a chiropractor. The purpose of the adjustment is to restore joint mobility by applying a controlled force into joints that have become restricted in their movement and to remove any nerve interference that is associated with it. The adjustment can be performed manually, using an instrument, or by using a drop assisting table. Leander Lumbar Traction Lumbar traction is a technique used to help with low back pain that is caused by either a lower lumbar disc or by a lower lumbar facet syndrome. During the examination, the doctor will determine whether the cause of the low back pain is from either of these conditions and if it is, this table can be used in conjunction with the chiropractic adjustment to improve the outcome of the treatment. InterferentialInterferential is a form of electrotherapy or e-stim. There are 4 main clinical applications for which interferential therapy is used: Pain relief, Muscle stimulation to reduce muscle spasms, Increased local blood flow and reduction of edema to reduce the effects of inflammation after an injury. Ultrasound Therapeutic ultrasound is a relatively low intensity technique that uses high-frequency sound waves to speed healing in injured joint or muscle tissue. Therapeutic ultrasound may have two types of benefit: Thermal effects involve energy absorbed from the sound waves heating the tissue and Cavitational effects result from the vibration of the tissue causing microscopic air bubbles to form, which transmit the vibrations in a way that directly stimulates cell membranes. This physical stimulation appears to enhance the cell-repair effects of the inflammatory response. |
