What is Cold Laser Therapy (LLLT)?
Laser Light Therapy is a
physical modality that emits photons (light) in very
specific regions of the electromagnetic spectrum. Laser
Light Therapy is the most researched and published modality
in physical rehabilitation and has demonstrated a multitude
of clinical benefits.
The most common uses for cold lasers are:
- Accelerating the healing of damaged tissue
- Inflammation reduction
- Pain reduction treatment
How Does It Work?
Do you remember in high school biology studying the way
sunlight triggers chemical reactions in plants? It is
called photosynthesis, a term most of us are familiar
with. Researchers have found that in humans (and in
most animals) there are receptor molecules in not only
in cell membranes but in mitochondrial membranes as
well. These molecules, when activated by certain
wavelengths of light, trigger a “cascade of healing.”
This is a “photochemical response” similar to
photosynthesis in plants. NASA was one of the first to
publish laser research in this country. “Low energy
photon irradiation by light in the far-red to near
infra-red spectral range with low energy lasers or LED
arrays has been found to modulate various biological
processes.” This process is called PHOTOBIOMODULATION.
The following is a list of only some of
the known reactions inside the body:
1. Anti-inflammatory
2. Analgesic (reduces pain)
3. Faster Cartilage & Ligament Repair
4. Improved Circulation
5. Increased Metabolic Activity
6. Trigger & Acupuncture Point Stimulation/Balancing
7. Reduction of Scar Tissue
8. Improved Nerve Function
9. Enhances Immune System
10.Speeds Wound Healing
What Conditions Can Be Treated With Cold Laser?
Here is a list of conditions treated from
experience and research literature:
1. Pain in Joints (of limbs) or Spine
2. Arthritis (Osteoarthritis or Rheumatoid)
3. Whiplash & Sprain/Strain Injuries
4. Post-operative Pain
5. Tendonitis/Bursitis
6. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
7. Tennis Elbow & Golfer’s Elbow
8. Fibromyalgia & Trigger Point Syndrome
9. Plantar Fascitis
10. Headaches (tension, sinus & migraine)
11. TMJ Syndromes
12. Stress fractures and other syndromes
How Many Treatments Will It Take and How Much Will It
Cost?
Most studies have shown that it may take 8-20 treatments
to see results depending on the severity and duration of
the condition. Treatments are done 1-3 times per
week. Individual treatments are $20. We also
offer a
package of 10 treatments for $150 (a $50 savings).
